Story
Earlier this year, my amazing mum was diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer, a type that’s notoriously difficult to detect on mammograms and doesn’t always present as the ‘typical’ lump people expect.
Instead, symptoms can include thickening or firmness in part of the breast, changes in breast shape or size, or skin changes such as dimpling or puckering.
The last few months have been incredibly hard for us as a family, and it’s opened our eyes to just how important awareness is. Knowing what to look for and trusting your instincts really can make all the difference. Please take the time to check your chest regularly and get anything unusual looked at, early detection saves lives.
This May, I’ll be walking 100 Miles to raise money for Breast Cancer Now – the UK’s leading breast cancer charity 🩷
In those 31 days, breast cancer will take almost 1000 lives in the UK. They are mothers and daughters, colleagues and friends. Men as well as women. Loved ones.
Every pound raised will help support Breast Cancer Now’s life-saving science and life-changing support. So they can continue to tackle the disease, whilst seeing and supporting the people it affects.
