Swansea University Swansea Half Marathon 2025 · 8 June 2025 ·

The aim of our charity is to raise awareness and funds to help with mental health and well-being in the community. Our main aim is prevention and education whilst keeping Nicky’s memory alive. As parents we both have experienced mental health challenges firsthand since Nicky’s passing. And have benefited from reaching out for support from family, friends and local charities. We are committed to breaking the stigma and fostering an open dialogue about mental health.

Story

After years of standing on the sidelines supporting various races and events, I’ve finally given in and signed up to one myself.

Anyone who knows me, will know I’ve never been a runner, not shown any interest in it at all. After completing Couch 2 5k last year and then going on to do my first 10k run, I genuinely thought that was as far as I would go.

The opportunity came to run Swansea Half Marathon for The 4N;cky Foundation and I couldn’t say no. Inspired by Caroline who runs everyday despite what she is going through. Inspired by Mike who goes out there and challenges himself just to raise awareness.

There is a lot to be said about how much running does for your health, physically but mentally too. So I am running for awareness, to hopefully raise some money, and most importantly, running for Nicky 🧡

A little bit about The 4N;cky Foundation from the founder, Caroline:

‘The 4N;cky Foundation is a charitable organisation set up in memory of our son, Nicky, who tragically lost his life to suicide in December 2022.

Nicky was just 20, a hard worker, an awesome drummer, funny and simply beautiful.

We are committed to breaking the stigma and fostering an open dialogue about mental health.’
