Story
Remembering Lauren Dennis
Lauren was a student at Wolverhampton Grammar school (WGS) from 2007 to 2013 a gap year saw her working at Waitrose in Wolverhampton and joining CBSO Chorus where she had the pleasure of touring Helsinki and Paris in 2014. Lauren headed off to Imperial College London to study Chemistry in October 2014. During her time at Imperial Lauren was involved in a range of additional activities including Netball and the Enterprise Lab where she developed her entrepreneurial skills. Unfortunately at a time when Lauren had secured an internship with BlackRock she was diagnosed with a rare stage 4 small bowel cancer in April 2017. After receiving treatment at the Royal Marsden Hospital Lauren was able to continue with her studies, played netball again and commenced her internship with BlackRock. Unfortunately, after a few weeks Lauren would need to resign from her internship as her health deteriorated. Lauren died on 15 October 2018 aged 23.
Lauren dearly loved her school and was particularly proud of being selected Head Girl in 2013 and of being an OW (Old Wulfrunian). As we celebrate 30 years of Lauren’s spirit, Lauren’s parents (Tim & Lorraine) will host a charity lunch on Sunday 25th May which would have been Lauren’s 30th birthday. Funds raised will contribute to WGS bursaries to support existing students adversely affected by the decision of the UK government to remove VAT exemption for fee paying schools.
This page has been created to enable those who will not be able to join us on Sunday 25th May for lunch at Wolverhampton Grammar School to make donations to support this worthy cause in Lauren’s memory.
