Story
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition which causes sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive system, causing lung infections and problems with digesting food. One in 25 of us carries the faulty gene that causes it, usually without knowing. Funding research and new treatments over the past few decades has greatly increased the average UK life expectancy, from 30 to 50 years old. Although this is incredible for the 11,000 Brits living with CF, it also allows more time for additional health issues to occur, such as diabetes, brittle bones and liver disease.
I’ll be running the 2025 London Marathon to raise money to fund research and treatments for the 11,000 Brits suffering with Cystic Fibrosis, but more closely my friend of 15 years, Molly. Throughout our friendship Molly has spent weeks and months in hospital, faced issues with medication that her health depends on, all while being vulnerable to many environmental factors of which wouldn’t usually effect the rest of us.
I want to keep my closest friend healthy for as long as possible, so your support for this cause would be greatly appreciated.
