Story
Hi my name’s Lauren, but I prefer to be called Lil.
I’ve always had a passion for sport. It’s been a huge part of my life and something that’s helped shape who I am. Living with fibromyalgia means dealing with constant pain throughout my body particularly in my spine, hips, and lower body and other symptoms alongside daily challenges from Raynaud’s syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, ADHD, and dyslexia. I’ve also had injuries including breaking the ball joint in my left arm in 2013 and my coccyx in 2023, Due to all my conditions I use a wheelchair full time.
Despite all of this, I refuse to let challenges define my limits.
This year I’m taking on the incredible challenge of completing the London Marathon in my wheelchair and I’m proud to be doing it in support of WheelPower.
WheelPower runs sports events across the UK that create opportunities for disabled people to get involved, making new friends, try new activities, and discover what they’re capable of. These events go beyond sport they empower you. They build confidence, open doors, and reveal a whole new world of possibilities you may never have thought possible.
I want to raise as much as I can so they can continue and expand these life-changing events, helping more people experience that same empowerment and opportunity.
Taking on this marathon is my way of giving back while pushing my own boundaries. If you’re able to donate, any amount will make a real difference. And if donating isn’t possible, your encouragement and support mean just as much.
Thank you for helping turn this challenge into something bigger than a finish line.
