Rob Burrow was an inspiration. Despite facing his own challenges, he was devoted to raising awareness and funds to help people living with MND in Leeds and their loved ones, until the end.

Story

I'm supporting this amazing appeal because Rob and Kev meant so much to my brother, Ben, who passed away in 2023. I also want to raise awareness about MND and help those with it to be supported in the best way.

Leeds Rhinos meant the world to Ben. I have vivid memories of Ben shouting at the TV with our family when Cas Tigers had (inevitably) beaten Leeds Rhinos in some kind of dodgy way... If I wasn't doing this, Ben would be.

Ben's great love, alongside his son, was rugby. Even when he was in pain, just before he passed away, nothing could stop him from supporting Leeds Rhinos and attending rugby league matches. Ben and his passing is what initially led me to running. When he died, I used running to try to channel my feelings into something positive, so I trained and completed the 2024 London Landmarks Half Marathon in his honour. This marathon is the next step in my running journey, and I plan to use every mile to think about Ben and what he meant to me, and how he still teaches me things and motivates me even though he is gone.
