Story
So, I've somehow signed up to run the London Marathon! It will be my very first marathon and most probably my last! The furthest I've ever run before is a half marathon, so taking on 26.2 miles feels like a huuuge challenge!
I'm taking it on for Nerve Tumours UK. One of the things that struck me when I became an NF Clinical Nurse Specialist was how few people have heard of Neurofibromatosis, yet the impact of this condition on the lives of patients and families can be huge. Every day I meet children and young people facing uncertainty, complex health challenges and the lifelong effects of NF1. I see first-hand how important specialist support, education and advocacy can be.
By running the London Marathon for Nerve Tumours UK, I hope to raise both awareness and vital funds for a condition that often goes unrecognised. The charity provides invaluable support to the NF community, and I'm proud to be running to help ensure that support continues to be available for the families and patients who need it most
I’m supporting Nerve Tumours UK because they fund a Specialist Support Network comprising regionally based nurses, a national helpline and other initiatives to support children and adults in the UK diagnosed with NF: the medical group name for Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1), NF2-related Schwannomatosis (NF2-SWN) and Schwannomatosis (SWN).
Nerve Tumours UK is the authoritative voice of NF in the UK and are solely financed by donations.

If you'd like to support me along the way, any donation – no matter how big or small – would be hugely appreciated!!
