Story
I am going to be running two 10ks in aid of cure Leukaemia. A charity very close to our hearts.
The Bristol 10k - 11-05-25
The Chew Valley 10k 01-06-25
In December 2021 my father in law Nick, got diagnosed with leukaemia.
After being a well, fit Hard working man it took everyone by surprise. He first stated having symptoms of his legs going like jelly, fatigue/loss of appetite and feeling breathless, which at first the doctors thought was a heart attack so took bloods. Within a few hours he had the devastating call to say in fact it was leukaemia, and he needed urgent treatment or he had weeks left to live. That same day he was admitted to hospital.
As a family we knew it would be a long road but one that Nick took on like a true fighter with incredible strength. From contracting sepsis and then being paralysed even before his first treatment, he fought back and over came it all.
2 years having treatment and just over a year without any, Nick is now in remission and we are hopeful that will continue. The path ahead is always an uncertain one but we know whatever happens he will keep putting up a fight and never back down!
Without the money being raised for this charity Nick would have never received the funding for the Trial treatment he got put on, and without that he wouldn’t have been here today. So that’s why after nearly 3 years of not running/ much exercise and two kids later, I’m putting my running trainers back on and going to try and raise as much money as I can, for an amazing charity!
Please donate what you can, every donation will be gratefully received xx
