Story
I lost my mind and decided to sign up for my first half marathon! After a long break from running, I’ve been so happy to get back into it. As a cross-country runner who always did 5ks in my school days, the idea of 21k was daunting - and it was difficult to accept the fact that I could not expect to run the same pace that I did when I was 20, after having my 2 kids. Once I slowed it down, I realised I was actually still capable of running longer distances than I imagined and completed my first 10k in May.
Unfortunately I injured my meniscus and had to take 6 weeks off of training from May-June. Thanks to a great physio, I’m running again and slowly building up mileage.
My goal has changed - rather than going for a particular time, I just want to finish the race, running the whole way and raising money for a fantastic local charity which has helped so many families during difficult times around Hertfordshire. I appreciate any support you can offer. <3 Thank you!

The Hospice of St Francis supports over 2000 local people who are managing, or recovering from, serious illness. We help them to live their precious lives well by improving symptoms, working with them to achieve personal goals and helping them to feel safe.
Our care takes many forms and our professional team plus dedicated and trained volunteers care for people with a wide range of illnesses.
We help patients in their own home or at our Hospice through 1:1 appointments or group sessions, ranging from physio, nursing support or complementary therapy.
The Hospice of St Francis relies on voluntary donations like yours to help us raise over £6 million every year that is needed to provide our special free care, as less than 20% of this comes from the NHS. By supporting this event you are ensuring that our special care can carry on for those that need us in their time of need.
