Sunset at Snowdon hike in support of Brain Awareness Week 2024 · 16 March 2024

🧠 The Brain Charity helps people affected by all forms of neurological condition to lead longer, healthier, happier lives. There are more than 600 conditions affecting the brain, spine & nervous system. We champion neurodiversity & provide practical help, emotional support & social activities. 🧠

Story

There are more than 600 conditions affecting the brain, spine and nervous system. And life with a neurological condition can not only be debilitating, but incredibly isolating.

“I’ve become a shadow of my former self. My entire life has changed and I feel so isolated. I left work as I simply couldn’t get through the day.” Laura*

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

After having bounced back from her own autoimmune health issues using brain-nervous system training, Lauren now feels passionately about helping others do the same.

The thing is, very little is known about a) the issues those living with a neurological condition face b) what support is available for these issues and c) what is possible when it comes to regaining our health, happiness and wellness.

But change is possible. And there is evidence of this in the dozens.

“Hello lovely Lauren… delighted to share with you that yesterday, Anth and I climbed Great Gable in the Lake District 😊 A perfect day weather wise with an ascent of 2,949 feet over 6.5 miles… as you can appreciate, this was unthinkable a few months ago. I feel like I’m fizzing today with the accomplishment despite aching muscles (know a good masseur?!) Thank you for all your help and support to get me here" Maxine, previous long covid sufferer

Unless we come together to raise awareness and even more funds, more people will continue living within the isolation and parameters set by these conditions.
