Story
A few months ago, whilst aimlessly watching the London marathon, I decided I wanted to push myself to become more active. This resulted in me signing up to do the London landmarks half marathon, luckily not as ambitious as the full London marathon!
As many of you can probably guess, I am not a runner! So this is really pushing me to be more active whilst raising money for a great cause.
I chose this charity as they really helped my family to look after my beautiful Nan whilst she was able to receive palliative care at home, surrounded by the people who loved her. They were there to support in so many ways and towards the end sat with her through a couple of night so that family members could rest. I will always be so grateful that we were given that extra time, especially with my little girl whilst in the chaos of covid.
I'll be running in memory of Her and my grandad, who didn't need to receive palliative care to the end at home, but he was able to spend the time at home with those who loved him until the very last day. I know it meant a lot to both of them to be at home.
On 5th April 2026, our incredible #TeamMarieCurie runners will be taking to the streets of London and running 13.1 miles.
All the money raised will help Marie Curie provide vital care and support to people living with a terminal illness, and their families at the toughest time.
£3 helps fund a meal for a patient in one of our hospices.
£26 helps help fund an hour of bereavement support by phone or webchat.
£207 helps fund nine hours of overnight nursing care in a patient's home.
