Story
I’m taking on the London to Brighton Bike Ride in support of Diabetes UK, a charity that is doing vital work to improve the lives of people living with diabetes and to fund research into better treatments and, ultimately, a cure. Diabetes affects millions of people across the UK, and its impact can be life-changing, not just for those diagnosed, but for their families too.
This cause is especially close to my heart because of my niece, Evie. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at just 8 years old, and since then she has shown incredible strength, resilience, and courage every single day. Managing type 1 diabetes is a constant, lifelong challenge, balancing blood sugar levels, monitoring food, and dealing with the ups and downs that come with it.
Seeing Evie face this condition head-on has been both inspiring and eye-opening. It’s made me realise just how important the work of Diabetes UK is, supporting families like hers, raising awareness, and driving forward research that could one day make a real difference.
By taking on this challenge, I hope to raise funds and awareness so that people like Evie can have a brighter, healthier future. Any support you can give would mean a huge amount, not just to me, but to everyone affected by diabetes.
Thank you for anything you can spare
