Providence Row tackles the root causes of homelessness to help people get off, and stay off, the streets. We work with over 1800 homeless and vulnerably housed people a year in East London, offering an integrated service of crisis support, advice, recovery, learning and training programmes.

Story

Providence Row is a charity founded in 1860 operating in East London. They support people in times of crisis by providing safe spaces, food, warmth, and access to advice and support.

They also work with people to build skills and confidence. Through their employment & progression schemes and mental and physical health services they provide the tools that enable people to create healthy, independent lives.

Being based in East London for the last 5 years, I have personally seen and experienced the large and increasing number of people homeless and living on the streets. Rising costs, the pandemic, and a whole multitude of factors have pushed more people onto the streets, particularly those who are most vulnerable. As we head towards winter, one of the most difficult times for people who are homeless, the need for these services increases rapidly, and without funding this charity can't continue to provide essential services to our community.

Many of us throughout our lives will experience a crisis, and when we do we hope to have friends and family there to support us. For some people this isn't an option, and Providence row can provide that support in many ways, giving people the opportunity to get back on their feet.

To help raise funds so this charity can continue the invaluable work they do I will be running The Royal Parks half marathon in October.

Any donations would be amazing, thank you for reading!
