Story
I’m taking on the challenge of a lifetime – and your support will keep me motivated as I race across an ocean!
On 31st August, I’ll set sail from Portsmouth on Leg 1 of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race — from the UK across the English Channel and Bay of Biscay to Spain, then over 5,000 miles across the Atlantic to Uruguay 🌊⛵
I’d never stepped on a sailboat before signing up, but after weeks of intense training, I’m (almost!) ready to take on this epic race with Team Tongyeong – one of 10 boats crewed by amateur sailors like me. It’s going to be tough, unpredictable, and full of highs and lows – just like the ocean.

As part of my preparation, I’ll be shaving my long hair and donating it to the Little Princess Trust, who provide real hair wigs to children who’ve lost their own through cancer treatment or other conditions.
I’m also fundraising for UNICEF, a charity that’s especially close to my heart as a teacher. Their work to protect and support children around the world is more vital than ever, and I’m proud to be supporting them through this challenge.
My participation in the race itself is entirely self-funded, so 100% of your donation will go to UNICEF. Please give what you can — your support will keep me going across the Atlantic, and help UNICEF continue their life-changing work.
I will be sharing updates when I can on my own insta, so please follow along: instagram.com/loandbehold_

UNICEF has been both a Charity and Team Partner for the Clipper Race for a decade and during this time has raised £1.6 million for children around the world.
UNICEF supports children in 190+ countries. They save children's lives with vaccines, clean water, and therapeutic food. They work to protect children from violence, exploitation, and abuse. They empower children through quality education. And they seek to create a safe and sustainable world where children can live, learn and grow.
Every pound you raise will make a difference to every child, every day, everywhere 💙
