A new challenge - my first ever sponsored run - a half marathon - 21.10kms
As you can see from my other pages, distance running has never been my thing. I have fundraised by cycling, by abseiling, by role playing a humanitarian emergency, by eating below the poverty line and walking a mile in her shoes every day. Never, ever, by running.
But somehow I have been persuaded to try.
A few weeks ago, one of our star fundraisers, and cancer survivor, Geoff May, had to cancel some of his fundraising challenges this year, after a new diagnosis.
So the time has come. For Geoff, for Guy's Cancer Centre.
We are working to provide Better, Faster, Fairer cancer care.
Innovations like personalised Immune Effector Cell therapy, where cells from a cancer patient are modified to better recognise and attack their cancer cells and then infused back into the patient where they seek out and destroy cancer cells.
We also know cancer survival rates are not the same for all groups in our community and we are determined to eliminate that inequity.
For these good reasons, I now look like this every weekend!
Thanks to all my supporters so far and to you - my next supporter!
