Story
Velindre, the Hospital of Hope has been providing specialist treatment and supportive care to cancer patients and families for over 65 years, including some of our relatives and friends who are close to our hearts.
To support the wonderful care and lifesaving treatment Velindre gives, we are raising money by cycling 122 miles from Aberystwyth to Cardiff on the 22nd and 23rd June 2024.
Starting the ride on the seafront outside Old College, which we are currently transforming, our route will follow the River Ystwyth along the valley floor before climbing steeply through Pont-rhyd-y-groes to join a spectacular and remote mountain road east of Cwmystwyth. After a climb of nearly 1000ft we will be rewarded with a wonderful descent on the traffic-free Elan Valley Trail alongside the Elan Valley reservoirs to Rhayader, and our bed for the night in Builth Wells. The next day we’ll be cycling alongside the Brecon Beacons and snaking our way through the beautiful Wye Valley before descending into Cardiff via the Taff trail.
The money raised will help fund groundbreaking research and clinical trials, cutting edge treatments, specialist nurses, support services, therapies, equipment and so much more which are above those provided by the NHS – so donations really do have a significant impact on patients and their families.
