Story
After my last Great North Run (2022) I vowed never to run it again as I found it so gruelling. I ran for the first time in 2019 and also in 2021. My proud Dad always came along to lend support and cheer me on. He was there at the end with his big smile and lots of food.
My Dad was only 66 years old when he was diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer last year and died a few months later. The loss of my Dad from my life is incomprehensible and I find it hard to believe that I will never see him again. He was always there for his family and loved being a Grandad. We miss him so much.
My Dad was a vegan and for the past few years had been an avid supporter of the Farm Animal Rescue Sanctuary in Warwickshire. He supported their fundraising efforts and the wonderful work they do looking after rescued farm animals. He enjoyed going to their open days with me and my sister and all his grandchildren.
I decided to run the GNR one more time in memory of my Dad and to raise funds for a charity important to him. I hope somewhere he will be watching and cheering me on.
I would appreciate any sponsorship to support FARS and remember my Dad. Thank you
