Story
I love playing rugby, I started about 2 years ago at a club near me and enjoyed the physicality and mental benefits straight away. Rugby is a really inclusive sport with girls of all sizes and shapes on my team all enjoying the game together.
At my school we have very few players because it's not encouraged as much as for the boys. When the school promoted an amazing once in a lifetime trip to play rugby in South Africa this summer, we didn't have enough girls to play a team there, instead I am going to play netball - which is great, but I'd love to play rugby and I want more girls in my school to join in too because I know they will benefit from it just as much as me.
Maddy's Mark is a charity in memory of Maddy Lawrence who died following an accident and loved rugby, just like me.
Maddy's Mark give support to premiership teams around the country to reach out to schools and train girls to take up rugby. I think this will make a massive difference to the participation in and enjoyment of this brilliant game.
At a time when girls are dropping out of sport at twice the rate of boys and their mental health is at an all time low, I think it's crucial we keep giving girls options to play sports they might thrive in at school.
I will be walking 50 miles of the South Downs Way over only TWO DAYS of the Easter Holidays - Friday 29th and Saturday 30th March.
I'm really looking forward to the challenge and I hope you'll give generously to get the support out there.
My aim is to raise £500 for Maddy's Mark
I also want to support the amount my parents are paying for my upcoming trip to South Africa so I'd like to raise £200 on top of that if possible - any extra is a bonus that would be amazing to me!!
Thank you!
