Accelerate Action Fundraising for Quetzal

Lucy Chalmers is raising money for Quetzal

Accelerate Action - Empower Women · 12 March 2025

Our organisation is named after the Quetzal, a beautiful South American bird that is prized for its colourful feathers. Legend has it that the Quetzal dies when caged and so it has become a symbol of freedom. At the Quetzal Project we help women to break down the bars of their psychological cages and gain freedom. We empower vulnerable women to transform their lives by supporting their recovery from the trauma of childhood sexual abuse.

Story

Support Survivors with Quetzal This International Women's Day

We, Lucy & Thalir, are Media and Communications interns working with The Quetzal Project through the Talent Match Micro Internship Scheme at Loughborough University. As part of our internship, we are organizing a series of events in celebration of International Women's Day (IWD) on March 8th, with this year’s theme: "Accelerate Action."

The Quetzal Project provides vital support to survivors of childhood sexual abuse, offering free, trauma-informed counselling to help them on their journey to recovery. To raise awareness and funds for this incredible charity, we will be hosting the following events:

💜 How You Can Help

All of our events are Pay-As-You-Like, because we understand the financial pressures students face. However, every £1 donated makes a real difference in supporting survivors on their journey to healing.

Your generosity helps fund free counselling sessions, guidance, and essential resources for those in need. If you can’t attend our events but still want to support the cause, please consider donating here—every contribution counts.

We’ll also be sharing information on how you can volunteer or work with The Quetzal Project, so if you’re interested, stop by and say hi!

Thank you for your support in accelerating action for survivors. Together, we can make a difference. 💜
