I am raising money for the Julia Garnham Center (JGC) at the University of Sheffield, an equal partnership with the Sheffield Children's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The JGC helps to improve access to diagnostic training and experience for students in our region via work placements, which also deliver clinical benefit to our partners across oncology and rare disease. I currently do an NHS placement at the JGC along with 200 other students, where we all have the same goal of trying to improve patient outcomes who have the disease we specialise in. Working for the JGC has been a highlight of my university experience and the money I raise will help hundreds of students improve their experience and carry on to provide better outcomes for patients and make an immediate impact on their lives and the family's lives. Doing this half marathon is something I never would have dreamed of doing because I have hated running my whole life, so I wouldn't just do this for anyone!
