On 15 June 2025, staff from Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust and friends will take on the Leeds 10k. They will join hundreds of runners pounding through the streets of Leeds to raise vital funds for the Leeds Community Healthcare Charity.

Story

This summer I'll be taking part in the Leeds 10K Run for All, aiming to raise money for the fantastic Leeds Community Healthcare Charity (LCH Charity).

This cause is close to my heart, as it’s a way for me to say thank you to the incredible teams who have supported me and my family through our recent challenges.

After the birth of our baby, my husband underwent major surgery. In the midst of the stress, staying active became my anchor—keeping me grounded and helping me navigate through the chaos. Now, I want to give something back.

Why Leeds Community Healthcare Charity?

LCH Charity enhances the patient experience within the NHS. They’re not about funding general patient care, but about making it better — whether that’s through new equipment, improving environments, or funding special requests. Donations like yours can make a real difference in patients’ and staff’s lives.

What your donation can help with:

1. Granting a terminally ill patient’s final wish: Helped a non-weight bearing palliative patient to attend a Leeds United match and meet his heroes, including Leeds legend Eddie Gray.

2. Accessible play for children: Enabled the installation of an accessible swing and roundabout at Hannah House, providing wheelchair users the chance to play.

3. Support for unpaid carers during the pandemic: Provided tablets with SIM cards and internet access for 20 unpaid carers in isolation during the pandemic.

4. Care packs for vulnerable patients: Supplied care packs to homeless patients in hospital, providing essential items and support.

5. Supporting children’s respite care: Funded a new wheelchair-accessible minibus for children at Hannah House, enabling them to access the community during respite.

You can find more information about the valuable work LCH Charity does here: https://www.leedscommunityhealthcare.nhs.uk/about/charity/

Every penny you donate goes towards improving the care and experience of those served by Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust. The charity uses donations to make things happen that government funding can’t cover.

I'm looking forward to this challenge and really appreciate your support. Whether you’re cheering me on or donating, your contribution makes a real difference.

Thank you so much for your support!
