I got the pleasure of visiting Gympanzees as part of my research role, and what a joy it was to see so many happy children being able to play without worries that their disability would exclude them. Their ethos is 'to enable every child and young person with a disability to access regular exercise, play and friendship, to improve their physical and mental health and well-being, and to take their families out of isolation.' This facility is vital as a recent national survey highlighted that 94% of paediatric physiotherapists are concerned about their patients accessing the rehab treatment they need. So far they have been in a temporary pop-up facility. They have fundraised to secure a building and, now they need to raise £8 million to make the necessary renovations to open a purpose-built facility by June 2026.
