Thank You all for visiting my page!!
As many of my friend's and family are aware the last year of my life has been a different one to say the least.
Having struggled with my weight for many a year's trying diet after diet I decided to take a brave step and have a gastric bypass, I did my research, I took my time spoke to friends and family and began my journey with the Luton and Dunstable Hospital. On the 1st of October 2023 I started by pre operative diet, 6 pints of milk a day, 2 oxo drinks and a jelly each day on the 16th of October I laid on the operating table with feelings of being scared, happy and worried but also exciting for this new chapter in my life. Many hours later I woke up and was going home. The next few weeks were challenging but I was enjoying the changes that not only could I feel but I could see within my body. Everything seemed to be going well until exactly one month later on the 16th of November I was in so much pain I could not move, I sat there on my sofa unable to move with the pain, I screamed to my husband just call me an ambulance, something I have never wanted to do and dont want to ever do again. 4 hours later I was being carried and slid down 3 flights of stairs by medical professionals and the firebrigade. Not only is this embaressing but it hit home how I needed to change my life. Approx 3.5 weeks later I woke up in Luton and Dunstable in ITU I saw my wonderful husband's face, tears streamed down our faces as I was unable to talk due to being intubated and this continued for sometime after, I have very few memory's about this journey but one thing I can say with pride is I am a survivor. Day to day living is slowly but surley getting easier. I decided I wanted to do something to not only challenge myself physically and mentally but I wanted to do something for charity, and not just any charity. Paul Strickland Scanner Centre is where I work, I see such good coming out of what we as a centre do I have decided to do the watford memory walk on the 7th of September. I will walk 5.5 miles on this day, I have lost over 13 stone so may walk longer. I will walk with pride determination and most of all I am able to be proud to not only help my patient's daily but for the money I raise to go to such a worthy cause. So please dig deep donate to this wonderful cause and support me on my journey.
