CHSW Barnstaple Half Marathon ✔

London Marathon 2025 to be completed...

After watching my husband and his friends take on the Ride for Precious Lives, and participating in the CHSW Barnstaple Half Marathon with Kristy last October, I wanted to do more. While I can't ride a bike, I can run—well, at least try to—and I am honoured to be running the London Marathon for CHSW.

Why CHSW?

The same reason Ryan cycled with Team Brown. I’ve come to know Mike and Nicky Brown over the years and hearing about the incredible support they received from Children’s Hospice South West is truly inspiring.

Their eldest son, Oliver Brown, the bravest, cheekiest, most mischievous boy, was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer in 2016. Oliver sadly left this world on 2nd November 2019, passing away peacefully at Little Harbour Hospice with Nicky, Mike, and Benjamin by his side.

I am continually inspired by the amazing work carried out by Children’s Hospice South West. As a midwife working within the NHS, I am acutely aware of the limitations of the services we can provide. That’s why charities like CHSW are crucial—they offer families and children the care and support they need during such difficult times, living up to their promise to ‘make the most of short and precious lives across the South West’.

I will be running come rain or shine. When it rains, I’ll be looking out for those ever-important rainbows, reminding us that life can be beautiful even in the storm—a lesson learned from the Brown family.
