Running for a Cause: Why I’m Going the Extra Mile for Dogs Trust

Five years ago, I brought home my sweet Koda, a Staffie who completely stole my heart. But Koda's breed is one that too often faces a heartbreaking reality — many are abandoned, end up in unsuitable homes, or spend years waiting in rescue centers for someone to give them the love they deserve. As someone who’s witnessed how incredible these dogs can be, I couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. That’s why I’ve decided to run for Dogs Trust, to give every dog the chance for a better life.

Now, let me be honest: I’m no runner. I’ve never been a fan of running, and you won’t see me signing up for marathons regularly! Yet, when people ask why I’m putting myself through this, the answer is simple: I’m doing it for the dogs. These amazing animals deserve all the love, care, and comfort we can offer, and I’m willing to put in the miles to make sure that happens.

Here’s how your support can make a huge difference:

* £10 could provide a new training lead for one of our newest four-legged residents.

* £20 could provide a cosy, comfy dog bed — something that makes a huge difference to a dog who’s never had a safe place to rest.

* £35.80 could pay for the cost of looking after a dog for a day at one of our rehoming centres.

* £150 could pay for a Dog School training class, helping owners build an unbreakable bond with their pups and giving dogs the best chance at a forever home.

* £350 could provide a week’s worth of care, including essential vet visits and health checks for a dog in need.

Every donation, no matter how small, can change a dog’s life. So, while I may not love running, I do love dogs. And for them, I’m ready to lace up my shoes, hit the pavement, and go the distance.
