Step Into Action This June!

Hazelton Mountford is taking on a company-wide challenge for a great cause. Every team member is committing to walk 10,000 steps a day throughout June.

Team Cirque du Sore Legs will be walking in support of RefuAid, nominated by our colleague Leanne.

'Refuaid was set up in 2012 by two women wanting to make a difference to help people rebuild their lives after conflict.

Refuaid offer interest free loans for refugees who had qualifications, for example accountants, auditors, Drs & Nurses, to help cover the costs for gaining their English language qualifications, re training in their known professions and licences they may need.

Without being able to retrain, refugees can end up in what's referred to as 'survival jobs' and get paid way below minimum wage.

Once a loan is repaid, its then offered to someone else and Refuaid have now started offering help with housing.

The average loan is £5,500, repaid over 6 years and the average wage once someone's re licenced is £35,000. The average earnings before someone used the loan is £7,000.

The London school of economics has recently done an analysis of Refuaid's loans and found that for every £1 borrowed, it generates £5.66 back into the economy.'

There is currently so much demand for these loans which is why we want to do our part to help fundraise.
