Story
For a long time I have wanted to run the London Marathon as a personal challenge, it's been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember and I have finally taken that leap to go ahead and do it. Every year I watch the Marathon and I find it incredible watching all those people to come together and achieve one goal and supporting many charities and causes close to my heart.
In April 2025, I will be running for Parkinson's UK. On a personal level, Parkinson's has directly touched my life as my grandma battled with the disease before she passed away. Seeing her struggle and the challenges she faced reinforced my desire to support Parkinson’s UK in their need for research, support services, and advocacy. I believe my Grandma was taken far too soon and I miss her cheekiness and the fond memories we as a family had with her. I have previously taken part in the Walk for Parkinson's event and the marathon is the next big step with Parkinson’s. Parkinson's UK plays a crucial role in funding research for better treatments and ultimately finding a cure, while also providing invaluable support to individuals and families affected by Parkinson's. I can't wait to run for an amazing cause.
Professionally, I have been involved in delivering classes for individuals living with Parkinson's disease through my work at Imagination Dance CIC. These sessions aim to enhance mobility, coordination, and overall quality of life, and I've witnessed firsthand the positive impact they can have on participants.
By fundraising for Parkinson's UK, I aim to honor my grandmother's memory and contribute to improving the lives of those living with Parkinson's today. I truly believe that we can make a meaningful difference in advancing research, raising awareness, and providing essential services for the Parkinson's community.
Here's an idea of what of the money raised for Parkinson's UK could do:
£75: Would enable a Parkinson's nurse-led clinic in the community to run for half a day.
£150: Would allow us to answer 15 calls on our helpline.
£500: Would fund a Parkinson's nurse for 25 hours.
£1,000: Would fund a cutting-edge research project for a week.
£2,500: Would mean we could provide a nursing service for those without local support for 2 weeks
Every pound raised helps us bring forward the day when no one fears Parkinson's.
