Story
Alport UK was established in 2013 by Susie Gear, wife of George Walker. The catalyst for founding the charity was through two of their children living with Alport Syndrome (as well as Susie) which has resulted in the need for hearing aids and kidney transplants for both children, one of which donated by Susie.
The charity was established to assist in facilitating a support and information network for all those affected by Alport Syndrome from contributing to research, raising the profile of Alport syndrome within the scientific community and facilitating a support network for patients and families. The charity carries out work that not only benefits those affected by Alport but other kidney diseases too.
