All money raised will go to the Wave NI Project which provides surf lessons to children as a means to tackling mental health Issues.
According to the NHS, a staggering 1 in 5 children in the UK have a probable mental health condition. This is up from 1 in 9 in 2017. This alarming statistic highlights the urgent need to address the mental health crisis that we are facing as a society.
At The Wave Project, they are committed to tackling this issue head-on, providing innovative and effective solutions to support the wellbeing of young people and their families, with over 14,000 young people having accessed Surf Therapy to date.
Mental health problems in early years can have far-reaching consequences, impacting not only the individual but also their families, communities and society as a whole. Left unaddressed, these issues can lead to social isolation, substance abuse and even self-harm or suicidal behaviour. The causes of mental health problems in young people are complex, ranging from poverty, trauma and bullying, to family dysfunction.
At The Wave Project, they recognise the pressing need for accessible and tailored support that caters to the unique needs of young people. Their programmes are designed to foster resilience, build self-esteem and give participants the tools and strategies they need to navigate challenges in life.
