Story
So for those that know me, running a marathon is a fantastical idea. Running a marathon in the humidity of the Dominican Republic just an absurd one.
Unfortunately for me, I have a (former) friend named Rebecca Moodycliffe who reminded me of a bet we made when I was 22 that I would run a marathon before I turn 30.
With that landmark inbound and very little internal motivation, I’ve come up with a plan to make it happen; run it for something that matters!
Therefore, on October 22nd, I will be running the Santo Domingo Marathon in aid of the mens mental health charity ‘Movember’ with the aim of raising £1500.
On average one man dies by suicide every minute of every day and I would bet that everyone reading this knows someone (regardless of gender) that has suffered mental health issues.
'Movember' as a charity keep it simple; they educate and they provide support services, services that I’ve had friends use and services I wish some friends had.
My thought process is, donate some money for such a good cause and come mile 10,15, 20 when I feel like quitting, it should spur me on!
