Story
Every Hour, Another Man Dies from Prostate Cancer.
Alec Anderson passed away from prostate cancer on 29 December 2014 at the age of 69. He was diagnosed too late. That heartbreaking loss is why we’re taking action.
Every hour, one man dies — that’s over 12,000 lives lost every year, yet there is still no national screening programme.
In memory of Alec, who loved darts and played for the Norfolk hotel back in the day, we’re holding a 12-hour Dartathon in August 2026. With the aim to score 100,000 points.
Our team — Lee (son), Tom (grandson), Jonny (son in law) ) and Brad (grandson in law — we have all got into darts recently and wanted to turn our new hobby into something meaningful.
We’re aiming to raise £300 to support vital prostate cancer research and awareness, helping push for the national screening programme that could have saved my dad and many others.
One man dies every hour. Together, we can help change that.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK. One in eight men will get it in their lifetime, with risk rising sharply after 50. If your father or brother has had it, you’re 2.5 times more likely — even higher if diagnosed before 60. Black men face double the risk: 1 in 4 will be diagnosed.
Please support our Dartathon and help us honour Alec’s memory while saving lives.
Please donate now however large or small and repost, every pound brings us closer to a future where no family has to lose someone too soon. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
