In memory of Richard Hughes

A barefoot Parkrun · 10 October 2026

Our homes provide safe accommodation for young mums and mums to be to live independently with 24 hour support. To build confidence in themselves, parenting, healthy relationships, education, home care and budgeting to achieve emotional, practical, financial security for life

Story

I will be running BAREFOOT at Tamworth Castle Grounds Parkrun on Saturday October 10th. This is to raise funds for, and raise awareness of a local charity that I am pleased to be a part of. This Charity is Number Eight Tamworth

What we do at Number Eight (Tamworth)

We’re a home, not a project or a unit – a place where families can grow. We:

· Provide safe, nurturing accommodation

· Offer one-to-one coaching and emotional support

· Help young parents learn practical life skills

· Support access to education, training and employment

· Empower them to build independence and stability

Because every young parent deserves the chance to feel safe, supported and capable of building a good life for their family.

We believe that with the right care and guidance, every young mum or dad can thrive – not just get by.

We provide a safe home where they can find their strength, build their future, and thrive as a family.

This challenge will also be dedicated to Richard Hughes. A lovely man with so many charitable causes under his belt that I would run out of space trying to list them all here!
