In 2012, Chris Dyson, a friend and former team mate sadly took his own life. This came as a shock to those that knew him and was a devastating blow to his wife, children, parents and brother. To compound this further, his father Phil took his own life shortly afterwards.

Following our successful event last year which raised over £5000, we are aiming to make this a yearly celebration of his life whilst raising awareness and crucial funds for charities to prevent others unnecessarily taking their own life and getting the support they need.

To do this, we will again be playing a charity football match, bringing together players and school friends from many years ago, and arranging a charity evening event to follow. Businesses and individuals are lending their time and resources, or providing financial support to make this event a success and maximise the money raised for charity.

Following the deaths of Chris and his father, his mum has taken up a role with The Samaritans and dedicates her time to educate and prevent further occurrences of the sadness both her and her family have endured. So, it seems fitting that the proceeds of our event goes to The Samaritans.
