Winton CC Annual Charity Match – In Memory of Ben Standish
This year, Winton Cricket Club will be holding our annual charity match in memory of a true club legend, Ben Standish, who sadly passed away following a historic battle with bowel cancer.
Ben was a fighter in every sense of the word. After enduring over a century of rounds of chemotherapy, Ben never lost his determination, his spirit or his love for life. Just as he faced his opposition on the cricket field with grit and courage, he took on cancer with exactly the same attitude.
Ben raised his bat one final time — and what an innings it was.
This year’s match will see the Winton CC 1st XI take on a Legends XI, made up of past players and familiar faces from throughout the club’s history. It promises to be a fantastic day filled with cricket, laughter, old stories, plenty of banter and, no doubt, a few tales that have become slightly more exaggerated over the years!
But most importantly, we’ll come together to remember a much-loved friend, teammate and Winton CC legend.
Ben was also an ambassador for this amazing charity, making this cause particularly close to the hearts of everyone involved.
Please donate whatever you can. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will help support the incredible work of the charity and help us continue Ben’s legacy of raising awareness and supporting others affected by bowel cancer.
Let’s make this year’s charity match one to remember — for Benjani.
🏏 Raise your bat, Ben. This one’s for you. ❤️
Thank you for your support and generosity.
