Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2026, I’ll be taking on a huge personal challenge: running a marathon once a month along the South West Coast Path (and possibly other coast paths around the country) to raise money for Mind, the mental health charity.
Mind works tirelessly to support better mental health for everyone. They provide information, run vital helplines, deliver local services such as therapy, housing and employment support, campaign for policy change, raise awareness, and challenge stigma through advocacy and media engagement. Their work truly changes lives.
There are several reasons why I’ve chosen to support Mind.
First and foremost, I’m doing this in memory of two very dear friends. Katy, who we lost in 2024, and Hailey, who left us in 2022. Both struggled with their mental health, and their absence is something I still find incredibly hard to comprehend. They are missed more than words can express, and this challenge is one small way for me to honour their memory and help others get the support they deserve.
Secondly, this challenge is about my own wellbeing. The past couple of years have tested my mental health more than I ever expected. I’m not ashamed to say there have been times when things felt overwhelming. Throughout it all, my children have given me strength I didn’t know I had, and the love and support of my family, close friends and work colleagues have carried me through some very difficult moments.
Many of you know that running has long been a big part of my life. In 2019, I completed two ultra marathons (35 miles and 64 miles), which remain some of my proudest achievements. While I’ve kept running since then, 2025 was a tough year - I could barely be bothered to tie my own shoes laces, let alone go out for a run!
I want that to change.
Running along the coast paths, whatever the weather, is my happy place. By taking on this challenge, I hope not only to push myself, but also to raise awareness around mental health and raise much-needed funds for Mind. It’s a huge undertaking, but one I believe in wholeheartedly — and one that I hope will make a real difference.
