The Cause.
AMC is a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups across the United Kingdom and online.
Their main aim is to end the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and help men through the power of conversation.

My story.
In June 2022, I found myself at rock bottom. The direction I believed my life was heading was flipped on its head and nothing made sense to me. I found myself questioning everything about life and the direction it seemed to be heading, with no answers available to me. The only option I could think of at that time was suicide.
Thankfully, intervention by the Police and the NHS Crisis Teams gave me a second chance. Unfortunately, the organisations established to offer ongoing care weren't up to standard for me and I still found myself in a place where nothing was making sense. I was really struggling.
That's when I heard about AMC. Plucking up the courage to attend was hard and the first time I attended I only made it as far as the car park but on my second visit I made it inside. I found an extremely welcoming setting, was offered a brew and biscuits and sat with a bunch of strangers who listened to my story, watched me cry and, the most stand out thing for me, they didn't judge me!
Just over a year down the line I'm extremely proud to still attend AMC on a weekly basis and am now lucky enough to facilitate sessions to help others going through their storm.
The only step you will take alone is the first time you come though our door!
To put it simply - AMC has played a vital role in saving my life!

The Challenge.
The Wainwrights are a collection of 214 summits across the Lake District, totalling over 138,000 meters elevation above sea level (equivalent to 15.6 ascents of Mt Everest)
I started my challenge on 2nd January 2023 and aim to complete it within 2 years.
I encourage people to join me on the challenge and hopefully find their love for the hills and the positive impact it has on mental health.
