Ray's Ride for Love Jasmine

In October 2023, our son Ray was born with a complex heart condition. Sadly, he died in November 2023 at just six weeks and six days old.

Since losing Ray, we've experienced first-hand how important support can be for families navigating the loss of a child. As both a bereaved dad and a counsellor, I understand how isolating, overwhelming and life-changing child loss can be.

Today, I have the privilege of working alongside Love Jasmine, providing counselling support to bereaved parents. Through this work, I see the difference the charity makes to families across the UK, supporting not only parents, but also siblings and grandparents who are grieving the loss of a child.

One of the things that makes Love Jasmine so special is that they provide funded support to families who may otherwise struggle to access it. Across much of the UK, specialist bereavement support following the death of a child can be difficult to find, involve long waiting lists, or simply be unaffordable for families already facing one of the most devastating experiences imaginable. Love Jasmine helps remove those barriers, ensuring families can access meaningful support when they need it most.

Unfortunately, Love Jasmine has recently lost £90,000 of National Lottery funding, placing some of these vital services at risk.

This summer, our son Elijah and a group of his friends, supported by their families, will be taking on a 5K bike ride through Penrose in Cornwall to help raise money for this incredible charity.

After the ride, the children will celebrate together with a well-earned ice cream, while hopefully making a difference to families facing one of the hardest experiences imaginable.
