Story

Following my retirement earlier this year, i found myself falling into the sport of cycling as a way to keep fit.

I was already aware that my good friend Andrew Crompton had organised the Go Asia cycle event for the worthy Bolton girls and lads club, the club desperately need funds and so I felt compelled to help and throw myself in at the deep end and enter the challenge as a participant, with bad ankles and a dodgy knee together with an arthritic wrist I’m going all in !

Any donation you can give will make a huge difference and make me feel even more obliged and privileged to help raise those much needed donations.

Bangkok to Saigon’, Andrew Crompton will be leading a team of cyclists with a wide range of cycling experience across Southeast Asia on a 650-mile, 14-day ride in 35 degree heat to raise vital funds for BLGC.

Funds are desperately needed to support, maintain, and grow mental health and wellbeing programmes for local children and young people, within the Bolton and Greater Manchester community. BLGC supports thousands of young people every day through their free open access youth club offer and specialised targeted youth services.

1 in 5 young people in the UK are experiencing mental health battles – right now. BLGC are currently inundated with young person’s referrals for their mental health services. The demand is currently outweighing the resources and their aspirations due to the local need is to grow and develop these vital services. The team of cyclist will not only be taking on a huge challenge but also helping to support the mental challenges young people are facing!
