Story
Lee's story
I’ve always had a passion for cycling, enjoying mountain bike riding in my younger years and then moving across to the dark side and getting into road and cyclocross racing as an adult. For me I’ve been lucky, I’ve been able to enjoy the freedom that cycling brings throughout my lifetime, I’ve been lucky enough to race all over the UK and Europe at times. I’m now passing this down to our little boy Samuel who also loves cycling.
I realise how lucky we are and that there are lots of children who are less fortunate in their own abilities from having disabilites and Special Educational Needs.
Let Us Play Wolverhampton is small local charity that works tirelessly to give children with disabilities, sessions on specially adapted bikes and trikes to experience cycling in a safe and fun environment. They hold activities at Aldersley stadium, Wolverhampton so really is a local charity and such a worthy cause.
This year on Sunday 11th May I’ll be taking on the Fred Whitton Challenge a 112 mile cycle around the Lake District taking in all of the famous mountain passes, hitting the Hardknott pass with gradients of up to 33% at the 94 mile point. Then the following month I’ll be riding the Aberdovey Bike Ride again. A ride I’ve done many times before leaving from West Park, Wolverhampton out through Shifnal across to Ironbrige, Shewsbury, Newtown into Wales up over the Dinas Mawdry mountain before reaching the sea front at Aberdovey. I‘m hoping to complete the 125 mile route in around 7 hours, not as fast as in the past but hey I’m older and not so light now!
If you‘d like to sponsor me please donate via the link attached, I’ll be dropping in to Let Us Play to see one of there sessions and to present the donations some time in July.
Thank you, Lee
