Story

On 20th April 2023, mine, my daughter, our family and friends’ world were turned upside down as my beautiful wife Michelle passed away from a rare condition called Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD). CJD is a rare and fatal condition that affects the brain. It causes brain damage that worsens rapidly over time. We spent 4 months caring for her and watching her deteriorate every day. All of this whilst trying to support our 10 year old daughter who had to watch her mum’s health decline at a scary rate. As you can imagine, we are all heartbroken and the only thing that manages to give me strength every day is watching how incredibly resilient, strong and courageous Connie has been through all this and she continues to do Michelle proud every day. I’m going to be running the Brighton Marathon on 7th April 2024 in her memory and will be running for the CJD Support Network, a charity that provides support for the families that have been effected by this awful condition. This will likely be the most emotional and challenging thing I’m ever likely to do and I would be unbelievably grateful if you would be kind enough to sponsor me however big or small to raise some money for this amazing charity.
