Story
My name is Lee Wingate and I’m an ultra runner.
I was the first person to run John O Groats to Lands End completely unsupported. It took 25 days and I ran over 800 miles.
I now want to run the 3 peaks unsupported and be the first to ever run it in this category.
Unsupported is the hardest category you can run in. From start to finish you are on your own. You carry all food, supplies and equipment, you cannot go into any shops or accept anything along the way. You wild camp the whole course as you aren’t allowed to go into b&bs or hotels. You are only allowed to collect water and it has to be from natural resources like rivers or streams.
You have to be able to be completely self sufficient and have the ability to multitask and think on your feet, if something breaks all you can do is use what you have to fix it. Versatility is key.
I have chosen to run for the Christie Cancer charity.
They have over 120 years of expertise in cancer care, research and education.
They treat over 60,000 patients per year
They are one of europes biggest cancer medicine centres and are doing 650 clinical studies at any time.
Any fundraising helps the prevention, treatment and research and education.
