In memory of “Leeds” Andy

In April 2026, to mark the one year anniversary of his death, I will be taking on the huge challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in memory of my husband Andy whilst fundraising for Blood Cancer UK. Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can, it really will make a massive difference. I appreciate that you may have already donated to DKMS and/or Blood Cancer UK as part of Andy's legacy, so I am not expecting you to donate again, however, if you can even just spare £1 a month and then donate £10 in April, that would be awesome - thank you 👍😍

Andy determinedly and bravely fought blood cancer (acute myeloid leukaemia) for just over 2 years and was beating the disease following a donor stem cell transplant. Living in Jersey, Channel Islands we needed to travel to the UK for diagnosis and treatments. The medical teams at RBH and UHS in the UK were outstanding and amazing throughout, and we were supported by the fantastic teams in Jersey Hospital, and at home by the Jersey Hospice Care and FNHC teams too. Unfortunately on 6th March all the treatment stopped working and we were given his terminal prognosis of a couple of weeks. He bravely fought on for another 6 weeks, passing away peacefully at home holding my hand on April 15th 2025, aged 56. 💔

Andy, being a kind and helpful man, wanted to raise awareness of DKMS (the stem cell donor register) and also Blood Cancer UK. We had therefore started to make plans to do some fundraising when he was better and out of isolation. However now, in his memory and with your help, I am going to try and fulfil his wishes, knowing that he's by my side as my biggest supporter and loudest cheerleader !!
