🚴 Support Steve’s Epic Ride for Legend on the Bench 🌟 #LegendOnABike
This year, Steve—better known as Legend on a Bike—is taking on one of the UK’s most iconic and grueling cycling challenges: Land’s End to John o’Groats (LEJOG). Steve will be starting the ride on the 5th of May!
The Land's End to John o'Groats (LEJOG) cycle route is a 1,176-mile (1,892 km) journey across the length of the UK, from Land's End in Cornwall to John o'Groats in Scotland. The National Cycle Network route from Land's End to John O'Groats is longer than the straight-line distance because it prioritizes using traffic-free paths and quiet roads, as well as incorporating scenic detours. While the shortest distance as a straight line is about 603 miles, the National Cycle Network route, which aims to be a safer and more enjoyable journey, can range from 1,176 to 1,215 miles.
Steve is riding to raise awareness and vital funds for Legend on the Bench, a remarkable mental health charity founded by former professional footballer Micky Hazard and his sister Michelle, after the heart breaking loss of Michelle’s son, Jason Lee Mead.
💛 Why This Ride Matters
Legend on the Bench is turning pain into purpose by creating hope-filled spaces in parks across the UK—installing special benches that are so much more than places to sit:
✨ 24/7 support access – Each bench features contact numbers and QR codes linking directly to mental health services.
💡 Integrated lighting – A gentle glow that offers both visibility and symbolic light during dark moments.
🛑 A moment to pause – A clear message: You are not alone. Just talk—someone is always listening.
These benches are lifelines. They’re helping to prevent suicide, reduce stigma, and create a visible support network in communities where it’s needed most.
Ride With Steve. Stand With Us.
