Leicester's fundraiser for Leicester MusicFest

Leicester MusicFest is raising money for Leicester MusicFest
“10th Anniversary of Leicester MusicFest”
Leicester MusicFest is an educational music charity, with a focus on widening access to high-quality performance and music education opportunities in Leicester. We run an annual festival of competitions, workshops & masterclasses, professional concerts and community music projects. Our aims: - To help young people access inspiring music-making and education. - To nurture emerging talent, and to provide a supportive atmosphere in which all musicians can enjoy performing. - To widen access to music by organising inspiring professional performances with free or subsidised tickets. - To provide a performance platform for amateur musicians at all stages of their musical journey, particularly where performance opportunities are otherwise limited. - To foster a culture of musical discovery and co-operation by running a wide variety of events within a single festival. - To encourage sharing of ideas and resources, bringing together the local musical community.

Story

Since 2016, Leicester MusicFest has been working to widen access to music education and performance opportunities across the city and region. As we enter our second decade, we continue to expand our Outreach Programme through our projects in schools, and through our ever-growing Instrument Rehoming Scheme, alongside our annual Festival of competitions, workshops, and concerts.

Over the last 10 years, we have:

- run 10 Festivals, including online during COVID-19, providing a platform for over 2000 individual performances

- rehomed over 400 musical instruments to individuals in need

- funded the installation of two Forest Gamelan outdoor music classrooms in local primary schools

- enabled over 40 inspiring school trips and workshops

- assisted students experiencing hardship with fees for music lessons and exams

- helped local children to compete at the National Brass Band Championships

- developed valuable partnerships with the Royal College of Organists, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, the National Youth Choir of Great Britain

- gathered together a fantastic team of over 100 volunteers, all committed to widening access to music in Leicester.

and much more! (see our www.leicestermusicfest.com for more details)
