Story
Hello! I am raising money, by running the Leicester 10km, for Leicestershire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Center, a fabulous charity that supports people living in Leicestershire living with Multiple Sclerosis.
Many of you have probably never heard of the condition, neither had my Mum or I, until my Dad was diagnosed in 2011. Growing up, the MS Centre in Leicester helped my family massively, giving my Dad a community to relate to, fantastic friends for life and support in staying as mobile as possible via physiotherapy sessions.
What is MS?
MS is a chronic, typically progressive, disease involving damage to the sheaths of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Symptoms of MS include numbness, impairment of speech, muscular co-ordination, blurred vision and severe fatigue. It is estimated that there are more than 100,000 people diagnosed with MS in the UK.
Unfortunately, people don't get better from Multiple Sclerosis. It massively impacts the lives of those it affects making it difficult to work and participate in activities that those living without the condition could. The Leicestershire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre helps people by improving their quality of life, providing both physiotherapy and support with mental well-being.
Please give whatever you feel comfortable to, any support is greatly received and will have a real impact in benefiting people's lives. Thank you.
