In 2016, my journey with CoppaFeel! began following a preventative double mastectomy. Yep, I decided to beat cancer to the punch before it even had a chance to show up. And now, because apparently, I’m a sucker for extreme life choices, I’ll be undergoing a preventative oophorectomy in February. (I like to think of it as spring cleaning – just a little more invasive!)

Through it all, I’ve been incredibly grateful for the research, information, and support that charities like CoppaFeel! provide. So I became a Coppafeel Boobette! They’ve been a source of empowerment for me and countless others to take control of our health, learn what’s normal for our bodies, and know when to shout, “Hey can I make an appointment, something’s not right!”

So, in my 38th year, I’ve decided to take on a challenge as bold as my surgical history: I’m trekking the Sahara Desert this November sponsored by AVON! Why? Partly because life’s too short to sit still, and partly because I figured walking on a scorching sandpit for days on end is a great way to prove I’m unstoppable. And I need to stop blaming the kids for the unfocused shape I’ve became comfortable in.

CoppaFeel! is the UK’s only youth-focused breast cancer awareness charity, and they’re on a mission to get everyone checking their chests. Early detection is a game-changer – it saves lives – and I’m determined to help them spread this vital message.
