100km. No Sleep. One Lifesaving Mission for Children’s Air Ambulance

Leigh Robinson is raising money for The Children's Air Ambulance

Peak District Ultra Challenge 2026 · 4 July 2026 to 5 July 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

The National Children’s Air Ambulance is an inter-hospital paediatric transfer service, flying critically ill babies and children from one hospital to another for specialist care.

Story

I’m taking on the Peak District
Ultra 100km Challenge — a continuous 100km trek that will push me through the day, through the night, and right to the finish — to raise money for the Children’s Air Ambulance.

My initial fundraising target is £500, and I’d love your support to help me reach — and hopefully exceed — that goal.

I’ve worked at Gamston Airport for the past 20 years. Three years ago, the Children’s Air Ambulance became based at our airfield, and since then I’ve watched their helicopter lift off from here on missions that truly matter.

When that aircraft takes off, it’s because a critically ill baby or child urgently needs specialist hospital care. Every mission means a family is facing one of the most frightening moments of their lives.

I don’t have children of my own, but I don’t believe you need to be a parent to care deeply about the safety of a child. Seeing this service operate up close has shown me just how vital it is.

The Children’s Air Ambulance is a flying intensive care unit, transferring babies and children between hospitals across the UK. They work alongside the NHS to get young patients to the specialist care they need — fast. And they rely entirely on donations to keep flying.

So while families are facing their darkest hours, I’ll be walking through mine — through tired legs, sore feet, and the long stretch of night — to help keep this helicopter in the air.

£10 could help fuel a mission.

£20 could help equip the aircraft.

Every pound helps keep them flying.

If you’re able to donate, no matter the amount, please help me reach £500 and support this incredible, lifesaving service.

Thank you for your support — it truly means a lot 💛
