Story

Hi everyone,

Mari and I have decided to run the “Liverpool Tunnel 10k” this April in memory of my late Father Paul Calvert, and to raise funds for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

Having fallen 0.2km short of completing ‘Couch to 5k’ back in 2021, when Mari asked if we should sign up to running the Liverpool 10k back in December 2024, my immediate reaction was ‘no chance’. We were enjoying a quiet night, having a couple of drinks, and it was at this point that the wine was doing most of the talking. Before I knew it, it was too late, and we were signed up.

Right now, we’ve managed to surpass our previous efforts (both breaking the 5k barrier), but we’ve still got a long way to go before we tackle the tunnel in 10 weeks time. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will not only support an amazing charity but also give us the extra motivation we desperately need to see this challenge through to the finish line.

Thanks for reading and supporting us on this journey.

Much love,

Leigh & Mari 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️✨

Clatterbridge Cancer Charity is the only dedicated charity for patients and research at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. The Centre makes over 220,000 patient contacts to over 30,000 patients a year, offering pioneering chemotherapy, radiotherapy and proton therapy treatments from eighteen operating sites across Merseyside and Cheshire, and including the Isle of Man

By choosing to support our Charity, you will help us to improve patient experience, fund vital research, the latest therapies and innovations in cancer treatment.

We are so often told that The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is unlike any other hospital. We pride ourselves on providing an environment in which patients receive the best possible experience, with the special touches that mean so much.

It is so important to us that we can do this for our patients, at our centres in Liverpool, Wirral and Aintree along with our network of chemotherapy clinics in hospitals across the region.
