We, at the Lelung Dharma Trust, are hoping to raise funds for an extension to our temple, Peace House, in North Harrow.

We have been incredibly fortunate to be able to buy our Buddhist dharma centre ‘Peace House’ and this centre has been very useful for the local community and for Buddhist people in London.

In the last few years, we have held teachings and meditation meetings on a weekly basis.

Also, we have been happy to host many wonderful events to support other Buddhist communities in other parts of the world.

In addition, we have had many visits from local school children to Peace House to help in their understanding of Buddhism as part of their religious education studies, particularly when they are focusing on the study of Buddhism in their curriculum. In the last year alone, we have had more than 1000 students visiting Peace House.

We are also members of the Harrow interfaith network and are able to contribute to bringing more harmony into society.

WHY DO WE NEED TO DO AN EXTENSION FOR OUR TEMPLE?

At the moment, the temple is unable to fully function because of the following reasons:

A. We don’t have the accommodation for a resident monk to live there and open the temple on daily basis.

B. We have no office space in order to run the organization efficiently.

C. There is no changing facility for our teacher Lelung Rinpoche so, at present, he has to change in the toilets.

D. Our usual teaching sessions are free of charge.

E. We have no waiting area for visitors and a shoe storage area.

F. We have no library and storage space

G. We have no income to pay for the running costs.

BENEFITS:

This proposed temple extension will fulfill the many needs of the temple and solve almost all of the above issues.

For example,

renting out the first floor hall for Yoga and Tai-chi groups regularly will bring us some much needed revenue.
