Lemara's fundraiser for Likkle Swimmers

Lemara Bailey is raising money for Likkle Swimmers

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2026 · 12 April 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

In May 2014, a 4 year old boy was pulled out to sea by a riptide; his father swam out and saved his life, but then tragically drowned before their eyes. We have discovered that so few of the children can swim, because they are surrounded by fear and no access to lessons and we want to change this.

Story

On 12th April 2026, I will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for Likkle Swimmers. As someone who does the odd 5k here and there, this will be a huge challenge for me but one that I'm excited to do for such a great cause.

Likkle Swimmers is a beautiful charity doing vital work in Treasure Beach located in my parent's home country Jamaica. They provide free swimming lessons to children & adults in the community where so few can swim and are not confident in water, despite living in such close proximity to the ocean. To date, they've taught over 1,000 children & adults to swim, giving them not just a life-saving skill, but confidence, joy and the freedom to enjoy the water safely.

In 2024 Hurricane Beryl brought devastation to Treasure Beach and then just last year they were hit again by Hurricane Melissa which caused further damage, significantly impacting the charity's work. Likkle Swimmers are now on a mission to rebuild their pool so they can continue their vital programme and every single donation will help to make that possible.

If you're able to donate, no matter how big or small, I'd be so incredibly grateful. Thank you for supporting me as I take on my first half marathon, and for helping ensure that the community of Treasure Beach can experience the beauty of water without fear.

Thank you,

Lemara x
